Fall is a Season of Change

I love fall especially the weather and the smells.  Pumpkin pie and hot apple cider are a favorite in our home. Nothing fills a home more than the smell of cider mulling on the stove with floating cinnamon sticks. Fall brings with it the anticpation of winter and snow.  Every night I watch the evening news and try to stay positive and upbeat but even I must admit at times it is very difficult. Just like everyone else the fear of contracting Swine Flu is overwhelming.  So much media hype with more information than the average or above average person can digest. Although  Fall is my favorite season, at times this Fall has been colored with the idea of having to get an injection of a vaccine that has never been given to the public. Why can't this Fall just be colored with turning leaves, vibrant mums and silly jack-o-laterns?

Hello Labor Day..Goodbye summer

This weekend we will say good bye to summer with wine, cigars and a big bonfire. I hate to see the summer end.  I love the beach and the pool. Even though it's warm during the day, the night time temperatures are too cool for swimming.  My sunflowers which were beautiful this year are starting to tip their heads and fade away. So this weekend as we have done many summer nights we will sit poolside with a roaring fire, enjoy fine cigars and a good bottle of Long Island wine.  My summer was great we got to celebrate Erica's college graduation with a huge party and got spend lots of  quality time with Jenna. Our visit with Jenna in August was great. We had 10 days to go to the beach, sit by the pool and visit family. So now it's time to usher in Fall.  It is with a sweet sorrow I say goodbye to the beach and pool, but welcome fall with pumpkins, mums and hot apple cider..

Just another Saturday night

Dinner at the diner with Erica and Frank.  Steve still having back problems.  Watched the  memorial service for Ted Kennedy today.  It was very sad, but also so amazing to see the past presidents and vice presidents pay tribute to a Senator that was The Lion of the Senate. A great void will be felt in the nations capital. Ted Kennedy died before his dream of health care for all was realized. We all benefited from this great statesman, whether it was health care for the elderly, for children or the family medical leave act to mention just a few, Kennedy always was on the side of the common folks.

Friday is my favorite Day of the week

I love Fridays.  It carries with it the possibilities of rest and relaxation.

Rainy Friday

I am collecting information on how to write a children's book. I have so many wonderful stories from my girls childhood that I would like to share with other children. I am very lucky both girls are teachers, which I personally think is the greatest career. Many times I have wished that I went to college for education instead of finance. Please feel free to share any information on how to publish a children's book.
